Thornhill Bridge Mains Diversion

Part of the bridge restrengthening works was a requirement to divert the mains water supply.

 

Project Description

  • Strengthening of the bridge by constructing a reinforced concrete slab over the cross girders to provide better load distribution
  • Mains water diversion
  • Waterproofing of the deck
  • Grit blasting and painting of all exposed metal works
  • Temporary narrowing of the footpath to reduce traffic management changeovers
  • Specially designed and manufactured temporary curtains implementing an industrial Velcro fastening system

Thornhill Bridge Restrengthening Works

This project was to supply grit blast painting and new concrete bridge deck to comply with highways loadings.

Project Description

  • Removal of existing rail and rubble from site, along with other associated works to prepare ground for piles
  • Installation of CFA piles for pit & shed extension
  • Installation of driver platform foundations, adjacent to new sidings roads
  • Construction of new apron slabs, to building entrance & exit
  • Excavation & preparation for structural pit works
  • Reinforced concrete structural works, for pit & shed construction
  • Installation of steel frame building
  • Overhead monorail crane
  • Installation of depot protection system
