Trafford Wheel Lathe Installation
A design and build contract for the provision of a wheel lathe to service the fleet of trams servicing the South of Manchester.
Project Description
- Dismantling works of the existing chequer plates
- Removal of the existing rail running over the pit between the fishplates including the removal of the support beams.
- The existing pit was prepared for the floor to be raised to foundation levels.
- Reinforced plinths were constructed to provide a base for the new wheel lathe.
- Installation of permanent access steps into the pit.
- 32Amp 3 phase neutral and earth socket, and general power installation.
- CCTV cameras installed to provide the operator with coverage of restricted views when in operation.
- Interlocking system installation to provided added protection.
- Endurance Luminiaire LED lighting installation.
- Heating was installed to provide operators with a comfortable environment.
- Installation of a sump pump
- Installation of a Jib Crane
- Provision of a Lone Worker Alarm System.
- Wheel Lathe installation and associated mechanical and electrical works
